National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation confirms commitment to long range support for First Nations, Inuit and Métis students in Saskatchewan

March 16, 2010 – TORONTO – The National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation is bringing the National Aboriginal Achievement Awards annual gala evening to Regina on March 26, but this is neither the beginning nor the end of the Foundation’s commitment to Saskatchewan First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples.

This is the third time in its 17-year history that the National Aboriginal Achievement Awards Gala has been in the province. The 17th annual event will take place in Regina on March 26, 2010 and will be nationally broadcast on Global and APTN.
Over its history, the Foundation has awarded $4-million in scholarships and bursaries to over a 1000 Aboriginal recipients from Saskatchewan.

“NAAF is thrilled with the support we have given to the Aboriginal students in Saskatchewan, helping them pursue their post-secondary education and training,” said Roberta Jamieson, President and CEO of The National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation.

In addition to the bursaries and scholarships for Saskatchewan recipients, the Foundation has held four Blueprint for the Future Career Fairs in Saskatchewan, attended by 3,600 students, introducing them to a wide array of career opportunities available in all employment sectors.

“NAAF is committed to enriching Canada by advancing Aboriginal Achievement in the Province of Saskatchewan. We will continue to work in the province long after we honour the 14 outstanding recipients at this year’s Awards Gala.”
