Building Brighter Futures

The National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation has evolved into the largest non-governmental funding body for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis post secondary students across Canada.  Bursary and scholarship awards are provided to First Nations, Inuit, and Métis students annually across a diverse range of disciplines.

In total, NAAF has disbursed over $32 million to over 8400 recipients since its inception.  NAAF offers financial assistance (scholarships and bursaries) through four major categories: Post-Secondary Education, Fine Arts, Health Careers, and Oil & Gas Aboriginal Trades & Technology. Post-Secondary Education
Business, science, law, engineering, technical studies, computer science, education, social work, and the social sciences. This category includes the Aboriginal Veterans Scholarship Trust and the Diana Fowler LeBlanc Aboriginal Social Work Scholarship.

Fine Arts Bursary awards Program
Post Secondary studies, personal development, training with a professional or at a non-accredited arts organization, in fields such as visual, performing, media, theatre, production, graphic and literary arts.

Aboriginal Health Careers
Health sciences such as medicine, nursing, dentistry, biology, chemistry, clinical psychology, physiotherapy, phar­macy, laboratory research and any other health field in which a study of hard sciences is a prerequisite.

Oil & Gas Trades & Technology Bursary & Scholarship Program for Aboriginal learners

Purpose of the Program
• To provide financial support to Aboriginal people interested in pursuing studies in the Oil and Gas trades and technology sector in Alberta and Alberta Aboriginal apprentices

• To increase the awareness of potential careers in this sector among Aboriginal high school students and Aboriginal people

• To increase the number and quality of Aboriginal candidates to be employed in the Oil and Gas trades and technology sector
